While living in a city usually means that you are always surrounded by many people and events, it can become quite easy to become isolated and not feel like you're living in much of a community. The City of Rockford hopes that this is not a phenomenon that occurs with their residents and has several initiatives in place to make everyone, from doctors to those who work with wastewater treatment chemicals for the city waterworks, to feel like they are able to be active members of their community. One of these projects is with RockStat meetings.

RockStat meetings are held once a month and are attended by the mayor and many members of the city staff. They are also open to the media and the public, acting as a forum for citizens and policy makers to discuss everything from healthcare issues to culture and recreation. If you have questions or concerns about public safety, the environment, or an English as a second language program that's being offered at one of the schools, this could be an excellent venue to get some answers.

And for all of those that would like to stay informed but are not able to attend the meetings in person, they are all filmed and places on line to view at your convenience. This is an excellent thing for those who are just interested in discussions on certain issues. If you're looking for information on what's happening with a local drive pulley plant or would like to hear the latest in regards to finance then you can simply watch the video for that section of the meeting.

For those members of the public that wish to attend meetings you are asked to be just an observer at that time. But, if you do have any questions or concerns about what you hear there is the opportunity to ask them. All you have to do is fill out a request form and give it to the Chair. Questions that are deemed appropriate for discussion will then be included in the Chair's analysis. All other questions are then passed on to the most appropriate staff member and are answered directly to those that asked. Whether you are the owner of a dealership marketing firm or are a single mother in the area, your question will be answered within a reasonable time.

With so many issues being handled by the staff of the City of Rockford it is sure that at one time there is going to be something that interests you. This could be that you believe the city garbage and vacuum trucks should be replaced with more fuel efficient alternatives or that there should be more money given to your neighborhood schools. RockStat is a great place to find out if your issues are being properly addressed by the local government.
