Often referred to as "The Forest City", Rockford is the third largest city in Illinois and is located on both banks of the Rock River. The city is contains a number of beautifully maintained suburbs that are perfect for any new homeowners.

Cherry Valley, for example, is a small community located on the southeast end of the city in the Kishwaukee River Valley. The Erlander Home Museum is one of the many points of interest in Rockford, and is the cultural masterpiece of Rockford's Swedish ancestry community. The Anderson Japanese Gardens is another popular attraction, and it was ranked as the top Japanese garden in North America. It was designed by Hoichi Kurisu, and had bronze angel sculptures contributed by Carl Milles.

If you are a fan of nature, then you may also enjoy the Klehm Arboretum and Botanic Garden, which contains 150 acres of rare trees and shrubs. For the history lovers, check out the Burpee Museum of Natural History, home to Jane the Rockford T-Rex. Rockford is also home to the Mendelssohn Performing Arts center, which is the oldest community music organization in the United States.

Other major attractions in the city include the Rock Cut State Park, Discovery Center Museum, Rockford Art Museum, Coronado Theatre, Tinker Swiss Cottage Museum, and the Midway Village and Museum Center.

The Keeling-Puri Peace Plaza is also another popular destination as it celebrates the United Nations' official September 21 International Day of Peace. The plaza is decorated with 44 flags, and has a message of peace in over 60 different languages. The heart of the plaza features two connected circles around an outline of the world that represents unity through diversity in action. It also features ten statues of well-know peace advocates with famous non-violence quotations from them. The park has become a popular gathering place, and is located on Rockford's east side along the Perryville bike pack.
